I have a rant

Why do shopping websites have to give underground info on NYC's best known kept shopping secrets. I just was reading racked.com aka my favorite shopping website ever. When I saw their new guide to NYC's under the radar stores. UM is it just me or is there something seriously wrong with this. What is the point of having a planned out route of where you would want to shop. The whole reason I love the city so much is because you will never know what you are going to find. Please just leave my city be!

What is happening in this world?

After watching Mila Kunis walk the red carpet last night I have decided that some styles have come and gone. Mila is just looking even better and better. She surprised me during the Globes with the green, but this red was totally shocking. I loved the print, and I am not usually one to love the print.
On the other hand, Natalie Portman has certainly lost her style during this pregnancy. I understand her wanting to try something new at the Golden Globes with the pink but this white was just a no no. She literally reminded me of a polar bear walking. Helllooooo earth to Natalie you have beautiful hair. Why do you have to wear it up all the time?

Is less really more?

Okay so I was talking to a random fashion friend today they tried explaining to me how over break they discovered that they really don't need a lot of clothes. They have adapted a new feeling that as long as what you have is luxury and really well made then they will carry you through what you need. I can't decide if this is really true. On one hand I feel as if what's the point of having so many low brand shirts that you don't know what to do with if you aren't even going to wear half of them. Or the other side as if you only have a few great tops how many times can you recycle that same top? I know the answer to this. There is none. That is why there are so many Forever 21s and Chanels in the world. People will never have to fully answer the question which is the great thing about this world. Right now I'm so halfsies on this. I have those great pieces that was a huge splurge that I know will be in my closet forever, but at the same time those 5 dollar tops can be just as good.

Shades

Since my new favorite thing is to wear sunglasses all year round. I'm obsessed with these crazy ridiculous sunglasses.

Spring Fever

I am loving new spring looks! All these new bright colors just make me sick looking at this snow.
These new Louis Vuitton bags are super adorable. The chic qualities of the Cuir Art Deco Trapeze Bags, bag make it able to be worn from day to night all the time. Okay I know everyone says that but this time it is actually true. I can totally see myself wearing this bag to interning, class, and then out later.
ASOS, otherwise known as the best online shopping website evver. Only $80 these super absolutely cute heels are my new loves. These colors, which I would normally hate work for me. All of a sudden I am wearing so much color. I'm even confusing myself. By summer I hope I'm not wearing all colors...
So I just finished reading the new Harper's Bazaar issue that said flat wedges are in instead of the higher height the better. Personally I don't know how I feel about this yet. On one hand, this will be so much easier on the feet, but on the other it is totally giving up on the high fashion. To me it has always been the higher the heels the better. I guess we will just have to see.

I wish I could pull of wooden clogs. So many cute Michael Kors ones are always eyeing me right in the fact but I just know I could never make it work. These Givenchy platform clogs are a great alternate. They are not the traditional wooden clogs developed from the Almish, but I could see myself wearing these.

Dressing up

I feel like getting dressed up in this year means something completely different than getting dressed up 20 years ago. Has our society lost the appeal of spending an hour getting ready with the perfect outfit before a night out? Why even bother reading a high style fashion magazine when our big night out involves jeans and maybe even (gasp) a pair of heels? My favorite new going out top? A perfect combination of going out looking cute but still fashionably comfortable. I bet your seeing it everywhere lately. Great styles seem to have that effect...
A great button up silk shirt still has an element of casual but can instantly dress something up. I caved up and bought the silky see through one from American Apparel.
On a side note I totally HATE the american apparel website. Okay I understand that they are trying to promote equality and that any type of woman can be beautiful but seriously who wants to their clothes modeled on ugly woman. Call me critical but I'm just saying what you're thinking out loud. You have to love American Apparel for their classics though. That ballerina dress will never tire. Me in my American Apparel shirt below obvs. We all look so classsy volunteering at the French embassy ya know the usual.
Okay so back to the button down shirt....the one on the right from the picture on the top is my fave. Classy but silky dressy at the same time. From Madewell which we all know is the cuter Jcrew. If you have never been in there GO. It's like a special mix of Anthropologie Jcrew and urban together. Supercute. So just do me a favor the next time your going out and attempt to mix it up a little. Don't just pull on those same pair of skinny jeans, boots and a tee shirt. Pull out that silky shirt that you think is too nice for just going to a friends house...I have news for you it's not. You know how people say working out and crying makes you feel better from getting endorphins? Well I think of it as when you get dressed up you get those same endorphins. I always feel so much more confident when I look my best and I know I didn't just run out in a sloppy outfit.

There are some things

that just shouldn't have been done. For example Lady Gaga's meat dress, Bspears getting married in Vegas, Taylor Momsen attempting to sing...but the worst of them all has to be Urban Outfitters starting a bridal collection. Yes I know some hipsters get married, but this should be their one special day where they push themselves to put on the puffy white dress and be a frilly princess. Okay I am TOTALLY being hypocritical considering I tell everyone that if I ever get married I will wear a black dress but....
Urban is getting set to launch a bridal website and then later be expanded into stores. (hopefully it stops online) What are they going to do? Make flannel into a dress? Like no keep the two separate pleaseee. Speaking of Urban totally obsessed with all the sweaters they are carrying right now. Can't stop sweater shopping major problem....

Thankfully

I live in the city...just so happens the one store in the world that will carry the H &M's waste collection. Aka the leftovers from the Lanvin by H&M collection that hit stores in November and caused mass hysteria. At first I was little eh about this idea but now I am totally for it seeing the preview. Good for the store to promote recycling and giving customers another chance at the Lanvin look. Loving these colors for spring.
The collection will only be sold in the 5th avenue store. Sorry wannabe NYCers :)

Generating greatness

So today I was walking in the mall ( yes I am still home from break don't remind me....) and I went into this store that I always pop into. BCBG Generation. Okay I have always loved their stuff at Lord and Taylor (shopping hint its cheaper in there just like the Free People) but I had never shopped in their actual store. Oh my god was it cute though. I got these two super cute rings that I had to have. The first is a pink oversize crystal ring. Total statement piece that will especially stand out on me because I nevvvver wear pink. The second is their valentines ring it's a double sided heart ring. Super cute and even though Valentines Day is the death of me and I hate the holiday with a burning passion I decided to slightly support it with this ring. Can't stop shopping the website now.
My next purchase will definitely be this quilted bag. I loved the material and the color in this photo doesn't do it justice. The perfect spring color.
Now all I need is for them to open a store in the city then I will be set!

He created Facebook why not fashion too?

Who does he think he is Marc Jacobs??????
There is a new fashion line created by Mark Zuckerberg. It is called Mark by Mark Zuckerberg. Hmmm sound familiar? Yeah because I'm not taking this personally or anything. Also, he is a computer genius, yes I give him that but where does he get off thinking he can design too? Alright jokes so this line is not really created by Mark and it was originally meant as a total joke but I guess the jokes on us because people are actually buying this stuff!
Check it out: http://www.markbymarkzuckerberg.com/

The line provides the essentials to Mark Zuckerberg and how a facebook mogul would design if he had a line. I still can't wrap my head around who would spend money on this. Stick to facebook please.

Nail inspired?

Okay so don't get me wrong I am just as obsessed with Kate Middleton as the next person. Yes I agree the whole love story between Prince William falling in love with a commoner is romantic. Yes I will watch the royal wedding and cry. Yes I will always be partial to Princess Di, my real royal love but can somebody please explain to me how she inspires nail polish.....
Butter London is planning on producing a nail polish inspired by Kate Middleton. Am I the only one confused? It is a sparkly lavender color that is going to be called, " No more Waity, Katie" oh.........
Being sold for $22 get one if you want nails like Kate....I guess.....

Birkin Babe

You've probably already seen/salivated/bought or heard of this new bag by Hermes. It is called The Together Bag and it is the new spring accessory must. This tote is a basic tote but it has a screening of the iconic Birkin bag on it. Perfect for the typical fashionista who is still saving up for the real thing. (aka me) The designers behind this new brilliance described the tote as an everyday bag that is practical and can be used for everything. Or as they put it," It has a surreal design that references luxury but is ultimately an anti-status symbol." Available for a measly $35 compared to the thousands you can spend on the real thing. But really ask yourself will this bag really supplement your Hermes addiction or will it just be a constant reminder of your pining for the real thing....I know my answer. Exactly why I'm not getting one. Sorry I can't help my princess side.

No No No

These two pictures from celebrities of these past three days have me grimacing. By the way Kirsten Dunst where have you been? Oh right rehab but I miss you come back, but next how about an outfit that matches a little better? All that money from Bring It On I figure you could afford a stylist.
Also where are people getting the idea that denim should be worn anywhere besides for on your legs? Enough with the jumpsuits and full on jean outfits. This isn't a rodeo and no it does not look western chic Kate Bosworth.....

Finally someone did me right. Thank you Rachel McAdams for not officially thinking Hollywood has turned to fashion suicide.

TV Fashion

Kardashians take NYC aka me and Damiana obvs. Or so I wish....Watching the premiere tonight must have been the most annoying/ taunting feelings ever. Um why wasn't I at Serendipity 3 when Kim was there or how about when Kanye was in Soho. By the way let me just point out Kourtney wearing a floppy hat for most of the show. Gossip girl starts again tomorrow!! It feels like forever. Thank god I found a style preview on instyle.com to get me through my ggirl starvation.
Here's a hint but see the rest on Instyle's website.
Friday Friday Friday til I'm back and I can't wait!

nastygal

So even though this website isn't a new thing I can't stop looking at it. It's like a fashion drug that won't stop working. Their new 2011 lookbook was genius. Although I do have an issue with their lack of creativeness in their shoe selection. Not everyone wants to wear Jeffrey Campbell all the time. Don't get me wrong I love them, but that doesn't everyone need a Campbell break?
Their blog is genius so make sure to check it out: http://blog.shopnastygal.com/
My favorite current nastygal looks:

I can't stop wearing Dolman sleeve style shirts either. And can't explain it......

Lovebirds

How cute do these two look at the screening of No Strings Attached. Its amazing how the couples that are the most unlikely stick it out the longest. Ashton and Demi look like teenagers in love. Oh wait Ashton was a teenager just a few years ago. Lovvin the beanie though.

Jets vs. fashion

So as I'm sitting here looking at the new Pre-Fall 2011 collections I am probably the only person not watching the Jets game. These Missoni Fall looks already have me looking forward to Fall. The way these prints are mixed just captivates me oh my god.

Is it bad that I am already planning for the fall....

Bundling Up

So today was the day. For whatever reason I put off buying a winter jacket until now. I guess it didn't really bother me that it was negative degrees out. Seeing as I'm FINALLYYYY leaving for nyc again on Friday I thought it was time to finally get an appropriate winter jacket. But here's the real question. Do I go for practicality or fashionable?
The debate came down between these two: A north face down quilted that must have sold out everywhere. I had to go to literally three stores before I could order it in my size. Downside: it only comes in dark gray. Well as much as I love gray black is and will always be my color. So either the north face or between a Michael Kors quilted down black jacket. Alright I admit brands play a part in some purchases I make such as this one. Don't judge me Carly Silverman I can see your face in my mind.
or

So after a lot of debate (a whole 30 minutes) I make my shopping decisions quick....I go to fashion school. And that's how I ended up with my new winter coat. Happily ever after the end.

FW

Counting down the days til Fashion Week. Found out interning tonight I get to work five shows! So excited! Just saw this on racked.com. Siren PR represents both Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960 that are designed by Nicole Ritchie. Omg if I see her in person...die

http://racked.com/archives/2011/01/20/get-a-glimpse-at-nicole-richie-behind-the-scenes-at-the-winter-kate-and-house-of-harlow-spring-2011.php

It was almost like things started making sense for me. As I was sitting at interning today stalking Perezhilton.com for 25 male celebrities wearing these sneakers I felt like I was doing something right. It's like that pat on the back that I made the right career path. Oh wait and I'm only 18.

NEON

Today I was inspired. After seeing all the fashion mishaps on my way to interning all of a sudden I got stopped in my tracks. This outfit was inventive and something that really made me think. Instantaneously I hated it. Then after seeing it a couple more times and really taking the whole thing in it was love. A bright neon melon flowy shirt worn over balck leggings boots and a black shirt underneath. I have always had a strong opinion that bright colors such as neons should only be worn in the summer. Today totally made me rethink that. My new shopping goal is to find cute neon clothes that can work in the winter. If only I had thought of this two seasons ago when free people was showing neon.....
Blake popping in this neon pink Balenciaga
Hmmm speaking of floppy hats... I just went onto the free people website and what do I see on the homepage?
A floppy hat of course! Okay this is decide I'm definitely getting one. Maybe not as large and floppy as the ones I have shared on here but I'll be sure to post a pic after! Clearly this is the new accessory to keep an eye out for. Every look shown on the free people site featured the floppy hat. Love Love

On a happier note

My new favorite blog is called Guys we shouldn't be attracted to. Literally died reading it today give it a chance: http://badnewsdudes.tumblr.com/

My biggest guy who I shouldn't be attracted to? Marc Jacobs. Only the hottest man to walk the planet unfortunately he is happily gay. And believe me he does look that hot in person. His new perfume ads for Bang only torture us more.

Still ranting

I don't know how this could ever enter anyone's minds but really how could someone ever think wearing tights and uggs is cute? I can't even tell you how many people I passed wearing this exact outfit. The worst (literally shuddering thinking about it) purple tights with black uggs. Sorry I didn't know Halloween was all year round. Ugh god please leave the tights for flats or really cute non ugg boots.
Please if someone thinks this actually looks good feel free to tell me.

NYC rants

Alright after being in my favorite city in the world today, aka home I had so many issues. Literally I could barely control my comments on these outfits. My first issue: a white beanie. There it was on the subway. Not a winter white either just a summer white knit beanie. EW. Alright clearly maybe you have your seasons mixed up but sorry this doesn't go. The only white you should be wearing this season is winter white. Beautiful mixed with almost everything it is just the perfect answer to Winter's craving.
Even Jake Gyllenhaal did it wrong.....
Soooo much better:
Leave the white for the snow in the future please!

Too cold?

Winter shorts? Another thing you really have to work to pull off. You just have to ask yourself if your willing to suffer in the cold for fashion. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the look. When I was in the city I loved pulling out the high waisted levi cutoffs and pairing them with tights and boots. You just have to make sure your rocking the look the correct way and not looking as if you forgot it wasn't summer. My favorite shorts that can be rocked during these snowy months? Leather short never get tired. Make sure you only wear the velvet during the winter because that's one of my biggest peeves omg.

Not surprised

Just another reason why I am obsessed with Alexander Wang? he JUST released his first ever print ad. Yep to all those Calvin Kleins and designers out there who needed the ads to help them gain business. Not only does Mr. Wang not need his name plastered everywhere but he does it in an absolute classy way. The ad has everything from the model having toothpaste hair and paint splattered pants is presented as a great representation of Spring 2011 Alexander Wang. In addition the ad will only be exclusive to Interview Magazine's March Issue. Alright people reading this are probs like who cares? But sorry I am in awe of his everything as usual.

Fashion's take under

The New minimalism is taking over especially for Spring on the runways. We've seen in it during the Golden Globes, and its only going to get bigger. More about pure and perfect instead of over designed and details. I'm a fan. I think your clothes should more focused on cut and perfection instead of what you can add on to the outfit.
